Hey Kyle,

I was very vocal about where I was going, including speaking with Eva, and no one told me I was doing something illegal. There are certain things I cannot do, like try and hire Amazonians for the next 12 months or use the proprietary knowledge in my head. But that seems to be it.

What about a non-compete agreement with Amazon? Didn't you sign one?

Yeah! Thanks for the shout-out! Also, thanks for inspiring me to get my shop ship-shape (couldn't pass up the alliteration there), since I know you're pimping me on etsy, which is AWESOME. I have a three day weekend with no plans - so it's project time! Yeah!

I miss you tons and hope to get out to Brooklyn soon... sometime after I pay off the $5000 I'm about to spend on my chompers. Thanks, crappy dental insurance.

I am halfway through the thinking prototype and it's easier and even more awesome than I expected! I can't thank you enough for the inspiration to learn something new :)

heart,

"What I was hired to do was not what needed to be done, so I stepped into that void."

I think that sums up what a lot of us did when we started at Etsy. I stepped into a void that was a little too big for me, which left me a little cranky but not really any worse for the wear. Pretty much everyone is ready to dive into the places where help is needed.

The nice thing about the people you're suddenly managing (and in fact everyone in the company) is that they're all competent, creative, and driven. Which is a rare thing.
